Moog VCF
The Moog "Voltage Controlled Filter" (VCF) provides a fourth-order low-pass, high-pass, or band-pass filter. It is based on the classic circuit by Robert A. Moog.
Parameters:
Low Pass | Band Pass | High Pass (Filter Type)
Select the filter type. The usual type is Low Pass.
Cutoff
This performable frequency parameter (in Hz) alters the Cutoff Frequency of the EQ (perhaps better termed the Corner Frequency):
- In low-pass mode, the sound is attenuated at frequencies above the Cutoff Frequency
- In high-pass mode, the sound is attenuated at frequencies below the Cutoff Frequency
- In band-pass mode, the sound is attenuated at frequencies above and below this frequency, which is better called the Center Frequency or Resonance Frequency in this case (but Corner Frequency works for all three cases)
Resonance (Q)
The Resonance parameter sets the Q at the Cutoff Frequency, which controls how much "ringing" there is near that Frequency. When the Resonance is set high, you will see a peak in the Frequency Response display for this effect. The Resonance parameter is performable.
