Q (Quality Factor)
The Q of a resonance is defined as the resonance center-frequency divided by the resonance bandwidth. The impulse-response of a resonator is about Q periods long. The term "Quality Factor" comes from the old analog days when it was hard to make a long-ringing resonator out of a practical capacitor and inductor.
